This past weekend I went to see this group at the Citizens Bank Arena here in Philly. It was a night of firsts.
The first night I had ever seen Bon Jovi, the first night at the new ball park and the first night seeing the other band below.
My cousin had asked me to go to this concert about a month ago. She LOVES Bon Jovi and who was I to deny her. She even bought my ticket but for $95 per ticket I almost had a stroke and wondered if seeing a band was worth it. She was nice enough to have bought it for my graduation present (more about this later).

Bon Jovi gave a kickin concert. They must have tons of money because the stage was fabulous with the light shows and videos going, etc. They were very interactive with the crowd, which I LOVE in a band.

Ritchie Sambora and Jon Bon Jovi are still hot after all these years. I’m not a huge fan of their music, and for a Jersey girl I hate to admit that, but the evening was fabulous.

This band opened the evening, somewhat.

There was a local band that originally opened and then Nickelback appeared after them.

I am starting to LOVE Nickelback and was more hyped to see them than Bon Jovi.

Nickelback was great and very interactive although some of their language probably made the parents of small children cringe. They were fabulous nonetheless and I can’t wait to see them again in the future.

And finally, are any of you past listeners of Pat Benatar? Do you remember her?

Well she is still around and she tours pretty much every year. She has about 9 or 10 albums out during the course of her career, not including all the “greatest hits” albums her record label put out. She has a huge U.S. following and quite a number of international fans that even fly in for her shows at times.

I’m mentioning her because I have a friend who is a freakish fan of hers and he goes to see her everytime she’s in the Florida area and a few other times when she wasn’t in the Florida area. I actually just saw her at the Borgata Casino in Atlantic City. She always gives a good show. Go see her, it will bring back some memories.

Are you seeing any good bands this year or summer? What do you think about the crazy ticket prices?

I couldn’t get tickets to Dave Matthews at the Tweeter cuz they sold out too fast. Damn. I tried to get tickets to the Foo Fighters acoustic show at the Tower in Upper Darby via the super secret fan presale, but THEY sold out too fast too. So I had to buy those on ebay. $120 for a pair, and I don’t know how good the seats will be, but I wouldn’t miss the Foos in Philly for anything.

Don’t like Nickelback. Not a big Bon Jovi fan (although I guess I was in the 80’s) but I admit I downloaded their new song to my iPod, after that freakin’ Jersey commercial made it get stuck in my head.

Pat Benetar ruled the early 80’s. She was the best.

Mainline Mom: that’s crazy. remember the days of camping out to get tickets and buying tickets online or even over the phone with a credit card was unheard of. Sometimes I don’t like the easiness of today because, like your instance, the tickets sell out in about 2.3 seconds.

Mr. Small: you’re the second best after Pat, sorry!

    No, Dick’s definitely the best!

Thank you, Skinny Bitch! It’s refreshing to see that 2 out of 3 ladies who’ve commented on this page have some class!

My brother the Lawn whisperer brought his 4 and 5 year olds to the bon jovi concert and loved it. So did his kids.

    Mainline Mom–Hi.

William, I remember LW’s post about this and was wondering if he was there with his kids. I was also secretly hoping that they waited until after Nickleback left the stage to come into the park because I could see him cringing with the language issue.

Hey! I finally found your blog!

Well, if you’ve been keeping up with mine, you probably know that this is the Summer of Concerts for me.

I already saw Def Leppard and Journey at the Tweeter Center and Michael Buble in Hershey in June. Those concerts were equally awesome in different ways.

In August I’m seeing Steely Dan/Michael McDonald and the Foo Fighters. I too had to get the Foo tickets on StubHub.com because they sold out so fast. All I know is I’m somewhere in the orchestra section of the Tower.

Then I just bought two tickets to see The Who in September. $120 a ticket. Yes, I’m crazy. But they’re floor seats, not far from the stage! Besides, when 50% of the original band is dead, I’m willing to cough up a little more money.

Glad to hear you enjoyed Bon Jovi. I have their greatest hits. Never was a HUGE fan, but I always liked their Top 10 stuff. And yes, Jon still looks amazing. I think it may be due to the fact that he didn’t have any huge drug or alcohol problems (as far as I know).

Hi Lori. Our little blog circles seem to keep getting smaller and smaller. Hi Bill!

Lori, I can’t believe you’ve been or going to be at so many concerts. Sometimes I hate when so many people come to the area that you want to see, gets very costly but then you have to make sure your calendar is free for all these people. Concerts are some good times to be had though. Mainline Mom is going to the Foo Fighters as well, that’s a crazy price to pay for tickets.

Lori, forgot to ask, how was Michael? Did you mom enjoy?

I LOVE Pat Benatar. And I don’t live Bon Jovi, although I like that video he has out now with Jennifer Nettles because I think she is cute. I’m shallow like that.

I think that not being a Bon Jovi fan and being from Jersey is okay, as long as you are a Springsteen fan.

  13. Teri said,

Mr. Fab, I’m not a Springsteen fan either, I guess I suck as a Jersey girl.

I was there at the Bon Jovi concert with my boys. Kyle and Luke were in their glory. It was indeed a good show.

LW, I’m glad they enjoyed, it was a good time!

Pat Benatar is great, as long as I don’t have to look at her. Yeeeeek!
