Sunny Florida

April 10, 2008 at 1:25 am (Florida vacation, Islands of Adventure, Universal Studios)

We hit some parks during our trip. This is Islands of Adventure. This roller coaster is The Hulk.

This is a log flume called Ripsaw Falls.

This is the entrance to Universal Studios.

Mel’s Diner
The Universal globe in front of the entrance.

This is the town of Celebration, which is owned by Disney. It’s a quaint and clean town. Me and Cindy wanted to move here and it would be great to have a timeshare in this quaint town. It’s a stones throw from the Disney parks. My friend, George, calls this the “Stepford” town since there are rules concerning what your property looks like, etc. Almost like an Association for the town. They like everything to be the same no matter where you are in the town.
This is near the movie theater, near the shops. The kids were having a great time.

A cute little face attached to a tree. One of the eyeballs fell off and was laying in the grass.

Some of the homes in Celebration. The town was established in 1994 and even though all the houses are newer construction, they are meant to look like old, historic homes.

Another home I liked.

The town square with shops, the Post Office and a cute little park in the middle.

A shot of the park from the Post Office.

The fountain in the middle of the park and the shops in the background.

A shot of the pond and bridges from the Park. This stretches down the opposite side of the street and there are homes and condos, etc. lining either side of the pond.

We have some small towns and homes like those here in Georgia. Washington, Madison, Macon, and many other little towns look like that, but most cant’ afford to live there because they are on the historical society register and, therefore have strict rules as to what you can do with the homes. But Celebration is the perfect town we all wish we could live in – like Mayberry.

Beautiful places and beautiful shots. They put Cape May to shame.

I am assuming I can’t pull my double-wide down there to live???

I am a serious coaster freak, I would love to ride the Hulk!

Sunny Florida looks a lot better than rainy Illinois.

Glad you had a great time. Florida is a great place to visit but I would not want to live there. All in all, the people that I have met that are residents are weird.

I’ll be heading to Orlando in May for a business deal at the Universal Pacific Resort. Should be fun.
