Hope: to believe, desire, or trust

With all the different things going on with all of us I pose this question:

How do you feel about “Hope”?

Do you ever feel like kicking it to the curb?

Believe me, I know all about hope. Back at the “big house” where I served one year of hard time, I was hoping against hope that one of the Kennedys (sorry, I can’t name names) would escort me to the prison rodeo. But at the last moment he asked someone else and I ended up going with Chip. Well, that’s okay, turns out Chip was a way better kisser than Mr. Kennedy. His loss, not mine. Everyone said so.

I’m still keeping hope close to my life. If nothing else, it’s the most powerful thing I have going in my life. 🙂

Nope! Never! It’s all any of us have. Next to Desire, that is. And Cravings! And Wants! And Needs! and, and…

You are asking the wrong person in me. I try to stay positive, keep the nasties at arms length with humor, but there is less and less hope that I feel as time goes on.

I feel like ET when the heart light was way dim…

I could never do that. Hope has helped me through some really tough times and I’m sure it will again. Don’t give up!

  6. Jen said,

    there’s ALWAYS hope

    didn’t you watch LOTR
    for christ’s sake??

  7. Dick Small said,

    LOTR???

  8. Sushiboy said,

Hope, Keep it, hope is your friend.

Certain Members of my gender, Kick them to the curb. Maybe it’ll wake em up.

    Don’t blame hope. 🙂

Jen, believe it or not, I never saw the Lord of the Rings trilogy. I know, what a loser!

  14. Superwoman said,

Times are a little scary but we can either choose to curl up and die or have hope that things will get better and work our hardest to create that change. Some members of the opposite sex do deserve to be kicked to the curb, but not hope. I’m glad I kicked a few to the curb. I’m much better off now.

  15. Just Dave said,

No, I always keep hope alive. As the Japanese poet Basho is reputed to have said, “It is better to travel hopefully than to arrive”. Of course, you get your share of disappointments but it is all part of the game.

  16. Dick Small said,

I’m surprised Teri never saw Lord of the rings. I heard it’s got that orlando bloom in it (the one Teri’s always drooling over). I heard he’s even naked, getting it on with a smurf….

  17. Jane Wonder said,

You know I do. Great hope often leads to greater pain. My life is trining me to be bitter and jaded though… maybe don’t pay me any mind.

  18. Nobody™ said,

Personally, I feel like HOPEing for a better life just isn’t won’t cut. We also have to work for a better life. Far too many people are putting way too much faith in hope alone, and in the end they will find out that the world will not get better just because some people hoped it would.

  19. Teri said,

Nobody, you’re a genius. A few days ago my lightbult went off and this is what I thought

    hope = action

my action has kicked in so hopefully the Hope will come through. 🙂

  20. Jen said,

    rent it

    rent it now

  21. Teri said,

but Jen, there are three movies at 3 hours a piece? Who’s got that kind of time?

  22. Fantastagirl said,

Teri – I’ve got that kind of time – but I don’t want to waste it on LOTR.

As far as hope – I don’t know anyone that has gotten anywhere on hope. I know a lot of people who have improved their life on action, hard work, and dedication. May your hope turn into action, and may your action turn into results.

    (yes, I read, I don’t comment often – sorry!)

  23. Trukindog said,

Hope is what gets me out of bed every morning…the hope that I can improve my life even just a tiny bit each day.

  24. Teri said,

Hope is indeed part of action. You can Hope for something but if you do nothing about it, it won’t drop into your lap. You have to work on it and Hope that your efforts will be rewarded.

You all are great. It’s amazing how positive and Hopeful you all are. We have our days and moments but Hope never seems to die. Every so often I want to throw Hope out the window but I never can. It’s too precious. But now I know that I really have to think about it and work for what I want. The Hope will always come along for the ride.

  25. La Crabcuracha said,

hope is what keeps me from giving up.

  26. The Guv'ner said,

Oh yes ma’am. I try to keep it but sometimes it’s hard. Right now, for example, I’m a little devoid of positive emotions and full of turmoil and worry, but I have hope (see!?) that this is temporary and over soon.

I’m not sure what I was aiming for here….

  27. metalmom said,

I used to want to kick Hope to the curb. She was a bitchy cheerleader that I knew in High School.

    I hated her.

  28. Dr Zibbs said,

I’d say hope sucks but then I’d be dissin’ the THAT BLUE YAK GARDEN OF HOPE. I’m sure you’ve heard of it.

  29. Cayman said,

Hope is just a girl I know.

  30. "that girl" said,

hope kept me with fucktard all those years … and although i’ve been a little pissed at her lately, she’s still my best friend!!
