Are the holidays over yet?

December 30, 2008 at 1:09 pm (food, holidays)

I’ve had a great time over this holiday season but when is it over?  Does anyone else feel like this?

    Too much family time? ;^)

  2. Teri said,

family, friend, work, etc. time. Too much of it.

why do we feel like we have to make and eat everything under the sun for the holidays?

I agree completely Teri, but I cannot resist. There is an unfinished yule log and some shortbread waiting for me in the kitchen.
    I am a trencherman. D’oh!

The holidays were just there for me….no anticipation or excitement….our kids were in Israel, G man and I agreed not to exchange gifts, we gave the kids money for the trip, I didn’t put up any decorations, nothing, baking was less then previous years too. I think for me going to the Bahamas immediately after Thanksgiving and having my kids gone just didn’t allow for any holiday excitement. I usually love to buy presents but with the economy the way it is we didn’t thisyear. Not that I am complaining about not exchanging gifts, after all I did go to Europe for 2 weeks ove rt he summer and we are trying to buy a hosue in Florida, ……….it’s just that planning what to get for someone is the fun for me. I guess what I am trying to say is the holidays were over for me before they began. PLus my weight gain happened before Thanksgiving, I stopped working out for a couple of weeks…..but I am back in the groove of going to the gym for awhile. Did I answer the question?

    I hear ya, kitty! 😦

  6. Teri said,

    you did, Cheer.

Sans – I also do not like to waste anything, so sometimes it’s hard trying to stop the eating when you don’t want to waste it. But if I can bring it to work and have the other vultures eat it, I’m good.

One last eat-fest tomorrow then penitence.

I usually pack on around 8 pounds during Commercialized Holiday Hell. ( I live the South and we don’t cook healthy Holiday food – it makes baby Jesus cry).

I try to take it in stride and just work out harder in Jan and Feb….

This year has been the exception (I’ve lost around 12 pounds) ; however, I’ve been stressed and performing and teaching, traveling and working my arse off…..
    don’t hate me

Shall I post a ‘post holiday’ boot camp workout regimen ? I’ll leave out the part where you get your heart crushed and lose your appetite….

I feel like the scale is actually telling me that I’ve gained 20 pounds. Stop judging me, scale!!

The holidays were challenging because of my diet. I’m doing a post about the program. I’m happy that I made it through with no cheating, loving the results, but like all diets I’m tired of it.

Happy End of Holidays!!! Woo Hoo!! 🙂
