Cheyney and Rebecca (Peterson) Hannum in Pennsylvania
I’m looking for anyone who is related to this line and might have more information. I am aware of the published Hannum Genealogy published in 1911. There seems to be some discrepancies regarding Rebecca Peterson’s family and I need clarification to attach to my Peterson line.
Cheyney was born May 31, 1800 in Pennsylvania and died June 14, 1857. All documentation I’ve found says he is buried at the Brandywine Baptist Church cemetery. I have been unable to find documentation confirming this and the church has accurate, up-to-date records.
Rebecca Peterson was born March 10, 1800 in Pennsylvania and died April 22, 1882, according to Delaware death records (Ancestry.com). These dates are also noted in the Hannum Genealogy which was published in 1911. The Delaware death records indicate Rebecca’s parents are John and Ruth (Pyles) Peterson. The Hannum Genealogy states that her parents are Peter and Rebecca (Bonsall) Peterson. I have been unable to locate Peter and Rebecca in any online records. John and Ruth are my 5th great grandparents. John and Ruth also have a son, Robert, who is my 4th great grandfather. All documentation I’ve found says she is buried at the Brandywine Baptist Church cemetery. I have been unable to find documentation confirming this and the church has accurate, up-to-date records.
